HISTORY

Max started out under the name of Yamada Air Industry Co., Ltd. as a manufacturer of aircraft wings. In the 1950s, Yamada Air Industry became Max Co., Ltd. and Max started to produce Japan’s first small-sized stapler, hand tacker and drafting machine. These early products won the trust of many customers, with Max becoming a major player in manufacturing products for fastening, binding and drawing. In the 1960s and 70s, through the development of pneumatic technology, Max nailers became air- powered, and the market for these products extended to include furniture, packaging and construction.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, electronics technologies were introduced and Max created new markets by introducing electronics into office equipment such as check writers, time recorders and staplers. Max also introduced new concept products for the next generation by combining the accumulated technology to make, for example, a high pressure pneumatic nailing system (Powerlite), re-chargeable battery-operated rebar tying tools (REBAR TIER), built-in electronic staplers for photocopiers (AUTO STAPLER) and lettering machines (Bepop). Max will continue to insist on “Making products that fully satisfy the people who use them” in the future as well.

PRODUCTION

Max has 10 factories located over the world, and all of Max’s core products are made in its own factories. Out of the 10, there are four factories in Japan that make the Powerlite nailer, regular pressure nailer and REBAR-TIER products which are our core products for the construction and industrial market. All the Japanese factories are ISO9001 and ISO14001-certified. Our manufacturing policy requires the production of quality products, reinforcing the idea that “MAX IS QUALITY”, that not every company is able to produce. How do we develop our products? How do we come up with ideas for our products? Max has a unique process for developing products.

DEVELOPMENT

The starting point for Max’s new product development is in “customer requests and operations”. Max has 10 factories located over the world, and all of Max’s core products are made in its own factories. How do we come up with ideas for our products? Max has a unique process for developing products. The starting point for Max’s new product development is in “customer requests and operations”. Max’s development staff always visit customers’ operations to find the answers to meet their needs, where they talk to customers and carefully observe their working processes. Max products with high ingenuity and originality, come about through the accumulation of such experiences. Max’s technical capability is demonstrated through the creation of unique products that meet customers’ needs via a fusion of original mechanism technology and electronic control technology. The expansion and development of our original technologies has been further accelerated through the use of 3D CAD and computer-supported control/ measurement/analyses. We will continue to introduce numerous of the world’s first items with high originality.
